Introduction: How to Make Syrup Fried Rings

In this instructable, I will show you how to how to make Jalebi, an Indian sweet popular all over South Asia and the Middle East. It is made by deep-frying refined flour batter in pretzel or circular shapes, which are then soaked in sugar syrup with saffron.


For making the Jalebi batter:

  1. Gram flour- 3 spoon
  2. Water- 1/2 cup
  3. Refined flour- 1 cup
  4. Curd- 3 spoons
  5. Baking Soda- 1 pinch
  6. Lemon
  7. Piping Bag

For making Sugar syrup:

  1. Saffron- 5 strands
  2. Sugar- 1 cup
  3. Water- 1/2 cup
  4. Cardamom powder- 1 pinch

Step 1: Make the Batter

To make the batter, Take a bowl and add the refined, gram flour, water, baking powder, and lemon. Mix it well till a thick batter is formed which is of flowing consistency. Put the batter in a piping bag and prepare the sugar syrup in the next step.

Step 2: Make the Sugar Syrup

To make the sugar syrup, boil 1/2 water in a kettle. Add the sugar, Cardamom and saffron. Mix well till the sugar dissolves and the colour changes to orange or like caramelized sugar.

Step 3: Fry the Jalebi!

To fry the jalebi, pour a cup of canola oil in a wok and make circular or pretzel like shapes from the batter using the piping bag of the batter. After frying the Jalebi, set it aside on a plate and heat the sugar syrup made in last step.

Step 4: Coat in Sugar Syrup

Put the jalebi in the kettle with sugar syrup. use tongs to coat it evenly in sugar syrup. After coating put it on a plate and serve hot!

Step 5: Done!

Now you can enjoy the sweet crunchy snack you just made!
