Intro: How to Make Simple Roast Potato Hearts

These super cute & incredibly delicious Roast Potato Hearts are easy to make, seriously delicious and naturally gluten free! Perfect for Valentines Day, a romantic dinner or a fun family meal.

Here is what you will need to serve 2-3.

  • 600 – 800g Maris Piper Potatoes *
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 tsp Dried Rosemary
  • 1 tsp Onion Salt
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

Essential Equipment

  • Large Baking Sheet
  • Silicone Baking Mat or Baking Paper
  • 5cm Heart Cutter

*Any floury potato will do. The final amount of potatoes may vary dependent on the size & shape of them (i.e. how many hearts you can get from 1 potato.)

STEP 1: Prep the Potatoes

Preheat your oven to 210°C/Fan 200°C and line a large baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or baking paper. Set to one side.

Firstly, cut your potatoes into 5mm (approx 1/4″) thick slices then, using your heart cutter, cut out as many hearts as you can. No need to peel the potatoes.

STEP 2: Place in a Bowl

Repeat until all your potatoes are used up then place all the hearts into a large bowl.

STEP 3: Time for Some Flavour!

Drizzle over the olive oil, rosemary, onion salt & garlic powder. Get your hands in there and give it a really good mix until everything is evenly coated.

STEP 4: Prepare to Bake

Tip the potato hearts out onto your prepared baking sheet & spread out into a single layer. Try not to overcrowd the tray.

STEP 5: Time to Bake!

Place them into your preheated oven for 25 minutes. Turn them all over half way through the cooking time to ensure an even bake.

STEP 6: Tadah!

That’s it! Divide between plates or tip into a bowl and serve immediately.
