Introduction: How to Make a Bow With Ribbon for Christmas | Bow Making Tips and Tricks (2023)

About: Hi, I'm Zannat, a macrame artist and co-owner of "The Design of Macrame," an Etsy shop specializing in unique macrame art.

You can add a festive touch to all your Christmas gifts with Christmas bows & ribbons. Most gift bows are made from cheap plastic ribbons and can cost more than $2.00. Before the holiday season is over, it might be a good idea not to waste money or create more plastic waste. You can make bows from ribbon or wrapping paper by following my simple pattern.

Supplies

  • Ribbon
  • Hot-Glue Gun

Step 1:

I used an approximately 40-inches long and 1-inch wide ribbon. You don't need to cut them into pieces. Just follow the step-by-step process. First of all, hold your ribbon around 7 inches and mark it as the center.

Step 2:

Take the short one and fold it toward the center as seen in the picture. See how it’s bending like an upside-down letter U? Attach them with glue.

Step 3:

Use the leftover ribbon as a round shape center. Secure them with a hot glue gun.

Step 4:

Now our 7 inches ribbon is done and uses the remaining strip to make loops like the first one

Step 5:

Repeat on the other side by flipping the piece over. With your homemade paper bow, you can adorn your gifts in style and on a budget!
