Introduction: How to Make a Cardboard Sneaker...

About: My name is Abdullah, I'm a cardboard modeler. Sometimes I make something great and sometimes otherwise...

One of the things I have never really made from cardboard is a shoe. So that's why in this instructable I will be making a sneaker, it is in fact a generic shoe. But it is based on airforce ones, vans, and some other shoes.

Feel free to customize it how you want, put a Nike sign on the side, or put a man doing a cartwheel with a basketball.

Whatever you choose!

(Artistic Tip)

I highly suggest leaving the graphics of your box on the outside, it adds a certain recycled look and takes on the look very well. This is just what I personally prefer to do.

Supplies

  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun...
  • ...And hot glue sticks
  • Cardboard
  • Ruler
  • Utility knife
  • Shoelaces in your preferred color
  • Cutting surface

Step 1: The Sole of the Shoe

First, cut out the shape of the shoe that you want to make. If you have a shoe you can trace it around it.

Once it is cut out cut a thin bit around the edge, we will put cardboard around it, and that will make up the trimmed edge.

Step 2: Sole Border

First, cut out some straight long strips, if they are not long enough then you can connect a few of them together, But the longer the better.

Make small holes going along it, to act as the sewing line. Glue it around the edge as shown.

Step 3: Sneaker Sides

Start with the back first. Make a shape that is similar to the shape in the first photo. For the sides, you can make a tapered rectangle with a curved front at the smaller end. Make some small holes along the top for the shoelaces.

For the tongue make an elongated rectangle and round off the top. make slits along the sides to make it easier to bend.

Step 4: Front and Tongue

For the tip of the shoe, it takes a bit of molding. Cut out a shape just like the first photo. And cut slits on the edges. Curve it inwards and glue it on the front, Taking the tongue you can glue it in now.

Once the hot glue is solidified, you can weave in the laces.

Step 5: Liners and Other Details

You can glue the sidelines and now you can glue on the logo if you want or you can add some more elements.

Step 6: Thats It!

Now you have a sneaker!!! although you can make two, I only made one to display on the wall.

If you have questions or tips. put em' below!

Peace.
