About: I am a student who loves technology, 3D design and everything related to DIY.

Greetings, book lovers and craft makers! As an avid 10th-grade student at Irabia-Izaga School, I'm always on the lookout for creative ways to make my reading time even more special. Have you ever wished for a bookmark that not only marks your page but also adds a touch of fun and personality to your reading experience? Well, you've come to the right place! In this project, I'll guide you step by step in creating an adorable cat-shaped bookmark, whose head will peek out from above the pages of your book as if it's peeking over the edge!

Using simple materials like green cardstock, permanent markers, pencils, and scissors, we'll transform basic supplies into a charming and practical reading companion. This bookmark will not only help you mark your page in style but will also bring a smile to your face every time you see the mischievous cat head peeking out from your favorite books.

Whether you're a student like me, an enthusiast or a curious beginner looking for a new challenge, this project is perfect for you. Get ready to fold, cut, and create something truly unique that will make your reading moments even more special!

Without further ado, let's dive into the world of origami and create our very own cat-shaped bookmark! May creativity and fun accompany us on this exciting journey!

Supplies

  • Green cardstock or construction paper
  • Permanent markers
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

Step 1: Prepare the Paper and Draw the Little Cat

Take your green cardstock or construction paper and cut it into a square. A square of about 15x15 cm (6x6 inches) works well for this project. Draw your pet with pencil on the front side of the bookmark. This includes the eyes, nose, mouth, whiskers, and any other details you'd like to add. Once you're happy with the design, go over the pencil lines with permanent markers to make them stand out.

Step 2: Cut Out the Shape

Carefully cut along the bottom edge of the bookmark to round off the corners and create a curved shape for the cat's body.

Step 3: Enjoy Your Cat Bookmark

Your cat bookmark with adorable paw accents is now complete! To use it, simply place the cat's head over the top edge of your book page and let the paws hang down over the pages.

Enjoy your reading with this charming and playful companion marking your place in the book! 😸📖
