Introduction: How to Make a Generator From a Mixer Motor

About: Its all about life hacks, tools, scientific & creativity instructables ~ electron7m

In this instructable, you will learn to make an Electric Generator from a Universal motor. This technique can also be applied to our usual motors used in mixers.

These generators require field excitation power because of the absence of permanent magnets. Their efficiency in some ways is equivalent to other generators with the major advantage of being available in every household.

Please remember that the generated power is always more than the applied input power like in our car alternators.

Step 2: Field Winding Connections:

Universal motor usually has two field poles. So, the first step will be to connect the two poles together in parallel.

After doing that, you should be left with four wires in total.

Now take a load bulb and connect it to the armature wires of the universal motor as shown in the pictures.

Now take a 5 volt dc supply and connected to the tapping points of the field winding.

Step 3: Testing:

Now simply rotate the shaft of the Universal motor and you should see the bulb glow.

Remember that the output from a Universal motor is dc.

You can also perform voltage and current test with the help of a multi-meter.

So Guys, that was all about this instructable.

Thankyou.
