Intro: How to Make a Guitar Hanger

Hello, my name is Cody and I am going to show you how to make a guitar hanger.

So let's get into it.

STEP 1: Things You Are Going to Need

Ok so for this instructable you are going to need:

A rubber mallet

Some gorilla double sided tape

2 2x4's

wood glue (optional: I used Tight Bond brand of wood glue.)

wood filler

paint (Of your choice.)

A jigsaw

Some chisels for wood

sandpaper ( I used 80gritt and 120gritt sandpaper.)

STEP 2: Making the Cuts.

Ok, so the first thing we are going to do is to pick up two 2x4,s. We need to cut one 2x4 8 inches and another one 6 inches.

Now after you have cut the shortest one 6 inches you need to look at your guitar neck this whole step revolves around the neck of your guitar. So after you measured your neck cut a U shape in your 6-inch block of wood.as shown in the 2nd picture. Use some 80 grit sandpaper to make both prongs somewhat level. This is the last thing for this step.

STEP 3: Sand Everything

Sand the snot out of every inch of wood. I would round all the edges with 80 grit. ( Remember: always sand with the grain of the wood.) Now after you have used the 80 grit get some 120 grit sandpaper and do the same thing you just did but, when you use the 120 it makes the wood quite a bit smoother and less rough. Ok on to the next step.

STEP 4: Gluing and Making Touch Ups

Now we are going to make the groove in the 8-inch block of wood. Measure about 4 1/2 inches on your block of wood. Mark 1/2 inches on the width on your 8 inch 2x4.Now take your jigsaw and make a groove 1/2 inches deep. Use a chisel for the rest you rest of the wood particles you can not get out. Make sure it is pretty snug when it fits. Now once it fits pretty well take some wood glue and put some wood glue in the crevis.

STEP 5: Finishing It

Use some wood filler and fill it all the cracks and let it dry for however long the container says to let dry. After it drys sand it off it should be filled if not just make a second application and repeat the process it should be just fine. After it is all done, it is time to paint or stain it. (note: I used green treated wood so stain is not an option. so I would use brown treated wood.) So I am going to paint it black. The last pictures are the finished product.

It dose not matter what color you paint it. Just paint or stain it to how it fits your personality.

STEP 6: Hanging It Up

I made this so it is ''No Hole in Your Walls'' design. so I would use this double-sided tape to hold it to the wall I mean it should work because it holds up to 30Ibs and my heaviest guitar is about 10Ibs at the very most Or, you can use 2-inch screws and screws it to your wall.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this instructable and leave a comment and if you think I could have done something different just let me know and I'll try to fix or do that thing differently.
