Intro: How to Make a Minecraft Pickaxe Lamp!

Hello. Today I am going to be showing you how to make a Minecraft Pickaxe Light Up Box. Hope you enjoy my Instructable!

STEP 1: Materials

1. around 70 wooden ¾ in. cubes
2. gorilla glue
3. acrylic paints
4. a minecraft pickaxe sprite printed off the internet
5. an 13in by 13in shadow box
6. 2 LED headlamp things
7. lot of time and patience

STEP 2: Time to Paint!

Get you paints and your sprite. Start by figuring out which pixels are on the edge. These pixels will have to be painted on more than one side. Then, go to town mixing paints and painting you cubes on their respective sides for assembly.

STEP 3: Time to Glue!

Now that your cubes are painted, start to assemble them into the pickaxe shape. This will help with the gluing. Now begin gluing them in stripes of 3, like this:

where * equals the cubes in the pattern

STEP 4: Gluing Again!

now that those cubes are dry, begin to glue them in 2 sets of 3s. like this:

* glue *
* glue *

STEP 5: Done Gluing!

Once the other pieces are dry, glue the rest of it together to form the correct shape! and you're done with the glue! almost...

STEP 6: Assembly

Get a paper background and glue it to the back of the shadow box. Then, hot glue your assembled pickaxe inside the box on the paper background.

STEP 7: Final Touches...

i took apart the headlamps to get at ahat we want, the LEDs. I used a dremel to cut the headlamps about in half, being careful to avoid the parts inside. I also used the dremel to cut notches in the side of the shadow box so I could slip the wires to the LEDs in the sides. After that, pop the batteries in the headlamps and your ready to turn it on! It looks really awesome in the dark!

STEP 8: You're Done!

Good Job. Framing was a nice touch. 8-Bit M. Bison still just kinda stands around in my living room looking awesome and can't be displayed as easily as your axe. Did you purchase the blocks or cut them yourself?

Thanks for the comment! I bought the blocks from Michael's, as I do not have a large saw at my house. I also didn't fell like cutting 70 blocks that were all the same size.
