Introduction: How to Make a Model Kit

I will be giving steps on how to build a model kit. A model kit can be very complicated depending on the brand and the kind of kit you have. This kit is a little complicated but not as much as other ones on the market. So, I will be using it to show as a good example. It is also almost completed so it helps show how it looks around the end of the process.

Supplies

You will need a pair of pliers. Specifically, ones that are sharp and able to cut while snapping. You will need a pair of sharp tweezers for the small stickers you will put onto the model kit. You will then need one of two things. You will either need a piece of sandpaper or a surgical blade, to get off excess plastic. If you are not confident with your cutting skills. Please use the sandpaper.

Step 1: Reading the Manual

You will first need to have your instructions manual. These come with the model kit usually. They will provide you with what pieces to cut, and how to cut those specific pieces. They may look complicated, but they are just multiple steps all shoved together.

Step 2: Cutting Out the Parts

You will then find the piece you need to cut out and use the sharp pliers. This step will become repetitive. However, do not just cut like every piece is the same. Pay attention very close to the small pieces that could look like excess. Sometimes they are the piece that connects things together and you just accidentally cut it off.

Step 3: Cleaning Up the Parts

Once you have your separate pieces cut out. You will need to either use the sandpaper to file them down or a blade to slice it off.

Step 4: Fitting the Kit Together

When pieces are completely finished start putting them together. As shown in the image I am connecting the wrist and hand joint to the forearm of the model kit.

Step 5: Finished Product and Extras

Now after a few hundred pieces are put together and it is all put together you have a finished model kit. (You can paint them differently, but that differs from person to person on when and how they paint them in the building process. This kit comes with a decent coat of paint already on it.)
