Introduction: How to Make a Multi Device Stand Out of Cardboard

I've always been annoyed about how my phone, air pods, and glasses are always laying down on my night stand with no support. I needed something to keep them from moving while I'm either asleep or away so they don't fall and break. I decided to make something that can hold all of these items together at once so I won't have to worry.

I decided that I should make the stand:

  • Stable but mobile so I can bring it places
  • Small but not cramped
  • Easy to make

I made some tiny mistakes along the way, but in the end, I created a masterpiece. It was everything I thought it would be and am happy that I decided to make it. In fact, I am so happy that I wanted other people to learn how to make it as well.

In this instructable, I am going to show you how to make a multi device stand that includes 3 different types of stands in one:

  • Phone
  • Air Pod
  • Glasses

Supplies

  • 10”:20” piece of cardboard

  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Glue Sticks
  • Switchblade

Step 1: Gathering Materials

Make sure you have all the supplies listed above as they are all necessary for this project.

Step 2: Cutting Pieces for Phone Stand

Dimensions:
    • 4” x 2 ¾” (Bottom)
    • 2 ½” x 2 ¾” (Vertical)
    • 5” x 2 ¾” (Angle)
    • 1" x ½" (Charging port) (2 pieces)
    • ¾" x 1" (Support) (2 pieces)
    • 1" x ¾" (Chord) (2 pieces)

Step 3: Glue Pieces Together

  1. Glue the vertical piece on top of the bottom piece ½” away from the edge of the bottom piece. Make sure the vertical piece is perpendicular to the bottom piece before glue dries.
  2. Glue the angled piece's edge to the bottom piece 1 ½” away from the opposite edge of where the vertical piece was glued.
  3. Glue the vertical and angled pieces where they meet so the vertical piece stays perpendicular to the bottom piece.
  4. Glue both the edges of the charging port pieces ½” from the bottom of the angle piece, but line the charging port pieces up with the sides of the angle piece so the is space in the center for the charger to fit through.
  5. Glue the two chord pieces to both front corners of the bottom piece so that there is space in the center for the chord to fit through.
  6. Glue the two stand pieces in between both the charging port and chord pieces so that they hold the charging port pieces up in order to rest the phone on the stand

Step 4: Cutting Pieces for Air Pod Holder

Dimensions:

  • 2" x 1" (Length) (2 pieces)
  • 1 1/4" x 1" (Width) (2 pieces)

Step 5: Glue Air Pod Pieces

  1. Glue the length piece to the width piece so that their 1" sides are lined up.
  2. Redo first step with the other two length and width pieces.
  3. Glue the remaining combined pieces together so the dimensions lined up and the lengths are across from each other and same for the widths.

Step 6: Cutting Pieces for the Glasses Stand

Dimensions:

  • 10" x 2" (Vertical Triangle) (3 pieces)
  • 2" x 1/2" (Lens Holder) (2 pieces)
  • 6 1/2" x 3/4" (Temple) (2 pieces)

Step 7: Glue Glasses Stand Pieces

  1. Glue the three 10" edges of the vertical stand pieces together and line them up with the dimensions so they look like a rectangular prism.
  2. Glue the temple piece 1 1/2" down from the top of the back side of the vertical stand pieces.
  3. Do the same thing with the second temple piece except another 1 1/2" down from the other temple piece.
  4. Glue the 1/2" edge of the lens holder piece to the front edge of the vertical stand pieces. Make sure the piece is 1" from the top of the vertical stand pieces.
  5. Do the same thing with the second lens holder piece except another 1 1/2" down from the other lens holderpiece.

Step 8: Cut the Platform of the Stand

Dimension:

  • 10" x 7 1/2" (Platform)

Step 9: Glue the Pieces Onto the Platform

  1. Glue the bottom of the Phone stand to the front left corner of the platform (1/2" off both sides of the platform).
  2. Glue the bottom of the air pod stand to the right side of the platform (1" of the 10" side and 2" off the 7 1/2" side).
  3. Glue the bottom of the glasses stand to the back of the platform (1/2" off the back and center it between the 7 1/2" side).
