Introduction: How to Make a Nether Portal in Minecraft
Have you ever wondered how to build a Nether portal in Minecraft and how to prepare for the Nether? Here's how!
Step 1: Step 1: Materials
For creating the Nether portal you will need:
-14 pieces of Obsidian
-Flint and Steel
Make sure that you have all of the materials!
Step 2: Step 2: Preparations for the Nether
Make sure that the area where you want to build the Nether portal is mob-free because the mobs could cause a distraction or kill you.
Also, double-check to see if you have a working spawn-point (the place you re-spawn when you die). If not, then wait for night and sleep in a bed.
And make sure that you have fairly good armor and weapons. Iron or Diamond armor and swords, are extremely recommend because the Nether has lots of mobs. ( such as: the Zombie Pigmen, the Ghast, the Blazes, the Magma
cube, and the Wither Skeleton)
Step 3: Step 3: the Portal
Once you have all the things need, can now start building the portal! Using your 14 pieces of Obsidian, build a 4 by 5 frame. 4 is the width and 5 is the length. To save 4 pieces of Obsidian, you can remove the corners. You have built the frame. Please note that the frame can be built so the bottom part of it is in the ground or you can make the bottom part above ground. (Whatever works for you)
Step 4: Step 4: Light It Up!
You now should have your frame. Now you can light the Nether portal! With the flint and steel you now, using the flint and steel place a fire inside the frame and it should light! When it does light, you can now travel to the Nether!

Just use other blocks building the frame.. It should look nicer and would be much more efficient saving 4 blocks ;)
