In this instructable, I will show you how to sew doll shirts. It’s really simple and fun. Let’s get started!

Supplies

You will need:

Felt - any color you want

Thread - make sure the color somewhat matches the felt (I only used black because I don’t have pink.)

Scissors - thread and/or fabric scissors

A needle

Step 1: Cut Your Fabric

Start by cutting a rectangle out of your felt. Remember, the longer you cut it, the longer the shirt will be.

Next, cut out a little hole for the doll’s head. Cut it in the middle of the rectangle, as in picture two. Make sure you don’t cut the hole too big. Cut a slit down the back.

Tip: If you fold it in half and pin the sides (as in picture three), open it out to see how large it will be (picture four). If your doll’s body doesn’t look like it will fit in, you may want to consider cutting out a new rectangle.

Cut out sleeves, and then cut dents into the shirt where the sleeves will be. (Pictures five and six)

Step 2: Sew One Sleeve

Lay one sleeve on your rectangle. Make sure it matches up with the indentation you cut previously. Next, thread your needle and sew up the sleeves as in pictures two and three. Fold your shirt in half and sew the side and lower half of the shirt/sleeve (view pictures four and five).

Step 3: Sew the Other Sleeve

Sewing the second sleeve will be a bit harder than the first since you already have the shirt folded in half and stitched.

Line the sleeve up with the dent, and sew up the sleeve like you did the first sleeve (look at pictures one and two). Pull the sleeve out and sew up the lower half of the shirt/sleeve, like you did for the first sleeve (picture three and four).
