How to Make a Sock Puppet

• WARNING: This activity requires use of a hot glue gun. Adult supervision recommended!
• This is a fun activity for bored kids stuck inside!

Step 1: Gather Supplies

• Pack of socks
• Googlie eyes
• Yarn
• Hot glue gun
• Glue sticks
• Markers
• Pipe cleaners
• Scissors

Step 2: Plug in Glue Gun

Plug in hot glue gun (may take a few minutes to heat up).

Step 3: Choose Sock & Place on Hand

Choose a sock from the package.

Place sock on hand, heel-side on palm of hand (as shown in picture).

Step 4: Mark Eyes and Hair

Mark on the sock where you want the eyes.

Mark the hairline about an inch above the eyes (as shown in picture).

Step 5: Glue on Eyes

Put glue on back of the googlie eye and place on mark.

Step 6: Make Wig

Choose preferred color of yarn.

Rap yarn around all four fingers until you reach your preferred amount of hair and cut.

Cut a smaller piece of yarn to tie the looped yarn in the middle.

Step 7: Glue on Hair

Put glue on the knot in the middle of wig and then place on mark.

Step 8: Finish Hair

Cut the loops of hair to make strands.

Step 9: Make Eyebrows

Cut pipe cleaners to preferred length.

Step 10: Glue on Eyebrows

Put glue on eyebrows and place above eyes.

Step 11: Color Mouth

Choose a marker and color both grey parts of the sock (toe and heel area) that together will make the mouth.

Step 12: Finish

Place sock on hand and have fun with your new sock puppet!
