Introduction: How to Make a Soda Bottle Bird Feeder
This bird feeder is made completely with household materials that anyone would already have in their home. Not only does this bird feeder do what it's meant to do, but it also gives other uses to plastic bottles which, of course, helps our environment.
Step 1: Materials
- Soda Bottle
- Box Cutter or Xacto Knife
- Wooden Kitchen Spoon
- Duct Tape
- Scissors
Step 2: Cutting Holes
First you have to cut two holes directly across from each other on the bottle. I chose to make the holes pretty high on the bottle because it was easier to but there but it would be better for the holes to be much lower on the bottle. I just pressed down hard on the bottle and once I stabbed through it I twisted the box cutter to make the hole round.
Step 3: Fixing the Holes
After I cut the holes into the bottle I used some scissors to fix up the holes and make them a bit rounder and bigger. You don't want to cut the holes too big though, just enough to fit the spoon in there.
Step 4: Put the Spoon In
Just slide the spoon into the holes that you made. Note that the side where the bird food will be coming out is the big side of the spoon.
Step 5: Tape the Holes
After fitting the spoon into the bottle, you have to tape the extra space from the holes shut. This is to make sure that no food can leak out of the feeder in places you don't want it to leak out from and it also holds the spoon in place.
