Intro: How to Make an Origami Bird

This bird is fairly easy to fold, although you might want to try a few easier models before it. It will help you through your daily life, as a bookmark, a gift, or just a reminder that nature is wherever you go, even in your office high in a tower in the city. Here is a link to my first origami instructable, Origami Bases and Basics. I got this model from the book, The Joy of Origami, by Margaret Van Sicklen.

STEP 1: Fold in Half, Several Times

Fold in half on the diagonals, from the top point to the bottom point, left to right. It should end up like a triangle with the longest side on the left. Then fold in half again, putting the top corner on the bottom one. It should end up as another, smaller triangle.

STEP 2: Fold Some More

Fold the left tip, the one on the bottom, up to the right one on the top. The crease should meet the left top corner. Flip it over and to the same thing on the other side, only in reverse(bottom right corner to top left corner). Flip back over.

STEP 3: Inside Reverse Fold

Fold the bottom tip up to meet the top edge, crease, and fold back down. Repeat on the other side. Remember to flip it back over to the first side when you're done. Now inside reverse fold the bottom tip, using the crease as a guide. Repeat on the other side.

STEP 4: Guess What? Fold Some More!

Fold the top left corner (acute) down to the bottom right corner (obtuse). Unfold.

STEP 5: The Head

Inside reverse fold along the crease made in the last step to make the head.

STEP 6: The Wings

Grab the tail side, the one on the right, and fold up the top layer only to make the wings. Repeat on the other side.

STEP 7: The Tail

This step is a few steps. Fold the right corner down. Open the top layer of the tail and squash fold it. Make it as even as possible. Fold the right, top half back. You are done.
