Introduction: How to Make the Perfect Chalkboard Design

have you ever wanted a perfect hand-lettered chalkboard design? But your handwriting is not so pretty? don't worry!

With this simple trick, you will become a chalk lettering pro in no time! just follow the steps and you will be amazed by how easy it is!

Step 1: Materials

for this super easy chalkboard design you will need...

  • a chalk pen
  • a pencil
  • an eraser
  • some cotton balls
  • a piece of paper
  • a normal chalk
  • and of course a chalkboard!

Step 2: Getting Started

Start with tracing your chalkboard, this is so that you know how big your text should be when drawing it. (you can also print a quote if you are not so good at chalk lettering! :)

Step 3: Making Your Design

When you have traced your chalkboard you can then start drawing/hand lettering your quote on a piece of paper (I taped two a4 pieces of paper together since my chalkboard was too big) you can use the internet for inspiration for designs or you could also print one if you don't want to hand letter it yourself!

Step 4: Chalk Time!

when you have finished your design you can now cut it out so that it fits on your chalkboard and you can start adding chalk to the other side of the paper.

Step 5: Blending

Before you start tracing the design onto the chalkboard you can first rub some chalk onto the chalkboard to give it a bit of an old effect and blend it in with a cotton ball (this is optional, you don't have to do it!)

Step 6: Tracing!

Now that you have put the chalk on the back of your piece of paper you can carefully place your design on your chalkboard and trace the letters with a pencil so that the chalk will leave an imprint of your design!

Step 7: Going Over With Chalk Markers!

After you have traced the piece of paper you can take it off and start tracing the imprint with a chalk marker to create your design.

Step 8: Finishing Off

Once you have traced your design with the chalk marker you can take away any access chalk with a cotton ball (if necessary) and tada! You have your new chalk lettered design!
