How to Open Canned Food With Your Bare Hands

Introduction: How to Open Canned Food With Your Bare Hands

I show how to open a tin food can using only my hands. It’s pretty easy to do but may take a few minutes. It took me about 4-5 minutes to get the can of beans open. Of course if you have a can opener or other tool it will be much simpler to use that, but this is for situations where you do not have those. To open it you are basically taking the tensile strength of the midsection of the can to its failure point by bending it back and forth. This could be useful in disaster situations, floods, zombie apocalypse, and camping if you don’t have another way of opening canned food.

Usually canned things are messy. And, how do you expect the elderly to manage this trick?

Are you the guy that used to tear NY City telephone books in half, bare handed? If so, this must be a disappointing, digitally necessitated career change. ( I don't mean "fingers" by my "digital" reference, I meant the "digital age", the internet, the... oh, forget it)

Excellent, practical and would-have-been-a-god-send idea for the thousands of humans who forgot to tick "can opener" off their list of items to bring during their 4 week isolated wilderness vacation....

As long as you keep the bandaids near by! But, he!, survival takes what is required... And it is safer than training a black bear to do it for you.

    Nicely done.

    Survival skills!
(Assuming there is canned food available and no other tools.)

That is amazingly. I totally clicked on this just to tell you that you weren't actually opening the can with your bare hands, but as it turns out, you actually are.
