Introduction: How to Paint Your Nails

Did you know that it can cost up to $30 for a simple manicure that’ll probably chip in about one week? If you do this just every other week it could cost you almost $800 per year. So wouldn’t it be more cost effective if you could do your nails by yourself and save more than $700 every year? I’m here to teach you how to paint your nails!

Step 1: Pick Out Your Color

First, start by picking out your color. Drug stores and beauty shops will sell you a nice bottle of polish for about $8.50.

Step 2: Remove Any Old Polish

Second, remove any old polish. If you don’t have and nail polish on, just swipe polish remover over your nails to get rid of any natural oils, etc.

Step 3: Roll the Bottle Between Your Palms

Third, roll the bottle between your palms for about 10 to 15 seconds. This warms up the polish and makes it easier to work with.

Step 4: Apply a Base Coat

Fourth, apply the base coat to protect your nails.

Step 5: Apply the First Coat

Fifth, apply the first coat of color. Start with one strip of polish down the center then down the left, then right side of your nail. Make sure the color is even

Step 6: Apply a Second Coat

Sixth, apply a second coat for coverage.

Step 7: Apply a Topcoat

Seventh, after the color has dried, apply a topcoat to protect your nails from chipping (like this).

Step 8: Don't Move!

Last, don’t do anything until your nails are completely dry!

Step 9: Now You Know!

So now you know how to paint your nails and you’re $700 richer! Go out and buy yourself something, maybe a new nail color or something?
