Introduction: How to Properly Clean Minnow Tanks

Taking care of Minnows and their environment is very important to keeping healthy Minnows alive.

Step 1: Fishing Out Minnows

You want to fish out all old Minnows and dispose of them so they don't mix with the fresh batch of Minnows.

Step 2: Draining Tank

To start the cleaning process you want to completely drain the tank.

Step 3: Scrubbing

After draining the tank you must scrub the entire tank to scrub the bacteria off the sides of tank.

Step 4: Scrubbing Objects in Tank

After scrubbing the tanks you have to also scrub the bacteria off the objects that sit in the tanks because not only does it get on the sides of tanks but it also collects on the objects. You can't let the old bacteria get mixed with the new batch of minnows.

Step 5: Threading

After you scrub off all the bad bacteria you want to thread the bottom of the pole to keep it tight so the tank does not begin to leak.

Step 6: Scrubbing and Rinsing

Scrubbing and Rinsing the Oxygen Dispenser is important because you have to clean the bacteria off the oxygen dispenser. You even have to scrub the connector of the Oxygen Dispenser so you don't transport bacteria to the new clean tank.

Step 7: Fill Tank

After you scrub you have to let the tank sit empty for at least 5 days. Then you fill the tank with fresh water.

Step 8: Utensils Drying

After you scrub the tank and clean them you want also clean your utensils for the tanks. After you rinse them you want to let them sit out and dry just like the tank does for 5 days.

Step 9: Input Minnows

After refilling tank with new fresh water you input new batch of Minnows

Step 10: Minnow Powder

After Minnows are in water sprinkle about a cup full of Minnow Powder in the tank. This helps the Minnows eat and keeps the bacteria from growing in the tanks.
