I don't coil cables or ropes. I fold them in half, then half again etc. When it's about two foot long, I tie in a simple overhand knot. This makes it easy to store by simply hanging on a hook and easy to unravel when I use it the next time. This means there are no twists and curls that are difficult to straighten.

this may sound stupid, but what does it matter which way you wrap cables? i guess i have just always looped normally (over).

Cuz the coiled cable will unwrap far easier, and with minimal tangles. Hope that helps. Thanks
