Introduction: How to Remove Dip Nail Polish in Ten Easy Steps

If you have ever gotten your nails done before there is a choice whether to get original nail polish, gel, or dip. What exactly is dip nail polish? Dip nail polish is described as when the nail technician dips your nail “into colored powder (or brushing the dip powder onto the nail), then using a clear sealant on top” (Norris, 2022). The dip nail polish process is coined as a long-lasting manicure that can stand up to people being rough on their nails and lasts up to one month (Norris, 2022). Since dip nail polish is such a long-lasting formula, the removal process is usually done at the nail salon. If you do not have time to go to the nail salon for removal this method is easy and can be done in the comfort of your home.

Supplies

Supplies Needed

·         Acetone

·         Cotton balls

·         Tin Foil

·         Scissors

·         Ruler

·         Nail File

Step 1:

Tear two ten-inch sheets of tin foil. The tin foil does not have to be exactly ten inches and can be estimated.

Step 2:

After tearing the two strips of tinfoil, grab the scissors and cut each piece of tinfoil into five strips. If measuring, divide each strip into two-inch sections

Step 3:

When completed, there should be ten small strips of tinfoil. One for each finger

Step 4:

Next, take ten cotton balls and soak them with acetone. I found the process of removal works best when the cotton balls are fully saturated.

Step 5: These Next Steps Involve Assembling All the Prepared Products on the Nails

Take the cotton ball and place it in the center of the nail.

Step 6:

Next, take a strip of tin foil and first wrap the tin foil around the nail, then fold the tin foil over so the nail and cotton ball are both completely covered.

Step 7:

After covering all your nails, sit and watch your favorite TV show or movie without removing the tin foil for thirty minutes

Step 8:

When thirty minutes have passed, the tin foil and cotton ball can be removed revealing your natural nail.

Step 9:

Buff out any remaining spots of dip with a nail file.

Step 10:

Wash your hands to remove all traces of acetone and dispose of trash.
