It is always annoying when you are looking for a pencil and when you find one the eraser is worn all the way down. But in a few minutes with the right tools you can pull up the eraser that is still in the pencil and make it look as good as new.

Supplies

  • Pencil with a worn down eraser.
  • Heat shrinking tubing that the pencil can fit through.
  • Vice grips of pliers.
  • Hairdryer.
  • Hot glue gun.
  • Screw driver.

Step 1: Removing the Eraser Part.

Use the vice grips or pliers to squish the eraser part vertically then horizontally . After a while of doing that, the eraser part should come off.

Step 2: Extending the Eraser.

Use the screwdriver to push the eraser out but leave some still in the metal part.

Step 3: Attaching It Back on to the Pencil.

Fill the metal part with hot glue and stick it on to the pencil. Then pull out the eraser and put hot glue on the eraser and stick it back in the metal part.

Step 4: Heat Shrinking Tubing.

Slip the heat shrinking tubing over the part with all the hot glue and use the hairdryer to shrink it. If the eraser is loose try adding more hot glue to strengthen it.
