How to Thread a Sewing Machine Needle for Beginners

Sewing can be a difficult task, but knowing how to work your machine makes it easier. (For home sewing machines)

Instructions may vary depending on your type of machine, but in general, it is the same process.

Thread
Sewing Needle

Step 1: Place Thread Onto Holder

Grab your desired color and type of thread, then place it onto one of the pegs. You can place it by securing one of the holes of the thread onto the peg.

Step 2: Pull the Thread Around the First Hook

Step 3: Weave Thread Along the Given Placement

There may be arrows on your machine detailing where it needs to go.

Step 4: Pull Thread Around Second Hook

Make sure that the hook is sticking out.

Step 5: Slip Thread Through First Hole

This hole is to keep the thread in place. If the thread is to frayed, it may be difficult. this problem can be solved by either cutting a cleaner end with scissors or licking (it sounds gross but it isn't) the end of the thread to push all the ends in place.

Step 6: Slip Thread Through Second Hole on Needle

This is necessary to allow the machine to actually work. If it is difficult to get the thread through, try the same tricks from above (cutting or licking the thread).
