Supplies
- Items needed
- Tint
- Glass cleaner
- Tint solution
- soapy water
- Vehicle
- Utility blade / Razorblade scraper
- Heat gun
- Squeegee
Step 1: Clean
Clean window with glass cleaner and scrap it with a razor blade trying to remove any sticker’s dirt or other contaminations on the window. A toothbrush or some sort of scrubber may be needed to clean dirt around the edges of the window s to remove all dirt.
Step 2: Cut the Tint
Lay the tint on the outside of the window and cut it to the size and shape of the window. Make sure the side with adhesive is facing the outside of the car
Step 3: Apply the Tint
Spray the inside of window with a tint solution and carefully lay the tint on the window. Spray the adhesive side of the tint as while pulling the clear off. Avoid touching the tint to anything after pulling the clear adhesive cover off the tint or dirt and other contaminations can get stuck to the tint. Position the tint to the same position that it was when the tint was cut
Step 4: Squeegee the Tint
Slowly spread the tint out by hand. Take it easy and slow as the tint is laid out so it doesn’t get kinked. If the tint gets a kink or hard crease in it, it won’t be able to get that back out of the tint. Squeegee out the tint solution from behind the tint after it is positioned by hand. Try to remove all solution and air out from behind the tint.
Step 5: Cure the Tint
Heat the tint lightly with a heat gun and clean up any extra solution. The heat gun helps cure the tint to the glass and will shrink out any bubbles from behind the tint. Another option is to leave the car out in the sun and it will have the same effect. Wipeout any extra solution that might have dripped anywhere else in the vehicle.
