Introduction: How to Use the Snipping Tool on Windows 7
Open the window that you want a screenshot of.
Step 1: Opening the Application
1. Press the Start menu. This is located on the Bottom Left hand corner.
2. Type snipping tool into the search bar, it will show the application in programs like below.
3. Left click on the application name to open the snipping tool.
Note:
If you are using Windows 7 Press Esc Key Before opening the window which you would like to take a snipping (Screenshot) of.
Step 2: Selecting a Mode
1. Press the Arrow button located next to New to open the drop down menu.
2. Choose from the list of options
- Free Form Snip
- Windows Snip
- Rectangle Snip
- Full-screen Snip
3. Left click on the most suitable snip if not already Selected
Step 3: Taking a Rectangle Snip
1. Select Free form Snip in the drop down menu
2. Click on the New.
3. Draw the area you wish to select.
4. Release left click after you have selected/drawn an area.
Step 4: Taking a Free Form Snip
1. Select Free form Snip in the drop down menu
2. Click on the New.
3. Draw the area you wish to select.
4. Release left click after you have selected/drawn an area.
Step 5: Taking a Full Screen Snip
1. Select Full screen Snip in the drop down menu
2. Click on the New
3. Click and it will take the screenshot.
Step 6: Taking a Window Snip
1. Select window Snip in the drop down menu
2. Click on the New.
3. Click the window you wish to snip.
Step 7: Saving the Snip
1. Click on The Purple Floppy Disc icon or File > Save As in the Top left window of the snipping tool.
2. Select a Suitable location, Otherwise the default location is Pictures Libraries.
3. Click on Filename input box to rename the image. Default file name is Capture.
4. Press the save Button.
