Intro: How to Weave a Paper Basket

This is a step-by-step tutorial on how to weave your very own basket out of paper

STEP 1: Step 1: Cutting Out the Pieces

Cut out 128 pieces of paper (5cm by 12.5 cm).

STEP 2: Step 2: Folding Horizontally

Fold each piece of paper in half (horizontally).

STEP 3: Step 3: Folding Horizontally Again

Then fold each piece of paper in half (horizontally) once again.

STEP 4: Step 4: Folding Vertically

Then fold each piece of paper again (vertically).

STEP 5: Step 5: Folding the Ends

Once you've folded the piece of paper in half vertically, unfold it. then take each end of the paper and fold them into the middle point.

STEP 6: Step 6: Pieces

Make sure you fold all 128 pieces.

STEP 7: Step 7: Interwinding

When connecting the pieces together, hold each one like in step 6. Put one piece into the others sides. You're pieces should look like the ones shown.

STEP 8: Step 8: Interwinding #2

There should be 4 rows of 32.

STEP 9: Step 9: Final Line Product

This is how all 4 lines should end up looking like.

STEP 10: Step 10: Circles

Take the two ends of each lines and connect them like you have with every other pieces. Do this with all 4 lines.

STEP 11: Step 11: the Bottom Piece

Now take your bottom line and trace the inside.

STEP 12: Step 12: Cutting It Out

Cut out the bottom thicker than the tracing.

STEP 13: Step 13: Cutting Lines

Cut out lines all around the bottom piece. Do not cut them off.

STEP 14: Step 14: Folding Up

Fold up all the pieces you have cut out.

STEP 15: Step 15: Attaching the Bottom

Once all the pieces are folded up, glue one side. Then put the glue side against the bottom line. This will make it connected.

STEP 16: Step 16: Second Bottom

Once again, cut out a bottom piece. Make this one the exact size of the bottom. Glue this bottom on top of the other one. This will make the bottom sturdier.

STEP 17: Step 17: Connecting the Lines

Using your left over paper, cut out 3 strips of paper. Once you have cut them all out, put glue all over one side.

STEP 18: Step 18: Putting the Strips Inside

Put the side of the strips with glue on the lines. Make sure the strips are on the spaces between every 2 lines. This will connect all the lines together.

STEP 19: Step 19: the Handle

Cut out another strip of paper. Make this one shorter (not too short) and fatter than the other 3.

STEP 20: Step 20: Folding the Handle

Fold the handle in half vertically.

STEP 21: Step 21: Folding the Handle Again

Fold the folded piece of paper in half (vertically) once again.

STEP 22: Step 22: Gluing

Glue all the fold together so it creates one singular strip. This will make the handle nice and sturdy.

STEP 23: Step 23: Attaching the Handle

Put glue on both ends of the handle. Attach the glued parts of handle against both sides of the basket.

STEP 24: Final Product

This is how your basket should turn out.

Fun papercraft project. I like the fact that you can customize it and make it any size that you want.
