I can easily pull off a perfect ollie when still on the ground and when rolling, but I always screw up when I go onto a ledge. I wonder why?

try ollieng off the ledge first. then go up onto the ledge.
curbs are great for practicing this.

Over here we have these special "Slanted" curbs that are made to reduce the bump a car would normally get from going up a curb. So it's not so great over where I live.

Hey, it's probably the height. Start by ollying a stick [hockey, broom etc...] and keep using a bigger object trying to ollie higher and higher. I've no idea, but it may also be an anxiety thing. I do a bit of parcour [free running] - I'm not very good, but I can jump 3, 3 1/2 foot objects... then when I try to hop a steel [spiked fence] I get scared. Trying to convince yourself that you can do it may help [then again, it my just get you hurt :) ]

the instructions are fine but in this video it does not show much skill. an ollie is so goddamn easy and it takes almost no skill to ollie three to eight inches. you obviosly do not skate and if you do you fail at it. i taght eight freinds to ollie and none of them have ever been on a skateboard before and within ten mitues seven of them were able to do a three inch high ollie.
there, i said it done. 4 stars
