A store bought special growth bag said to last for years, started to rot away after only one year. I have had good succes with these almost plastic like woven rice bags available in asia.
Curently trying a burlap sack for some potatoes, I guess I will have to keep that off the ground to avoid rot.
Havent thought about the plastic garbage bags yet.
What I have tried with success is just a garden center plastic bag with soil (40 liter) make two small holes on the flat side and put in a tomato seed. That worked well.
Old jeans work as well. stich the leg openings shut
