About: Hey y'all, we're Anna & Joan, chief yarn stashers at HANK & HOOK. We're an online yarn boutique curating fine yarns & knitting swag. Joan's a knitter & Anna's a crocheter. Together we stashed enough yarn to re…

The Miraduma hat, as well call it, was inspired by Russian girl boss & fashionista Miroslava Duma. For ultimate fluffiness, we used four strands of Debbie Bliss Angel and one strand of Drops Alpaca held together. The combination of mohair, silk, and alpaca fibers creates a fabric that’s sturdy, warm, yet incredibly lightweight all at the same time. Make it for someone on your holiday gift list and you'll earn major brownie points with your peeps.

Here is what you need to know before making the hat:

TECHNIQUES

SSK: slip, slip knit. Slip the next two stitches, one at a time as if to knit, to the right needle. Insert the left needle into the fronts of these two stitches and knit them together. One stitch is decreased.

P2tog: Position the needle as if to purl a single stitch, except insert the needle through two loops. Purl the 2 stitches together as if they were one stitch.

PATTERN NOTES:
In this pattern, you will be knitting with four (4) strands of Debbie Bliss Angel and one (1) strand of Drops Alpaca held together. For the first three balls of Debbie Bliss Angel, take one strand from the beginning of the ball and the end of the ball (so altogether you have four strands from two balls). Once you have used up the first two balls of Angel, split the last ball in half and hold two strands together from there.

Step 1: Begin the Pattern

Holding four strands of Debbie Bliss Angel and one strand of Drops Alpaca, CO 80 (88, 96) sts using the longtail method on 6.5mm circular needles. Use a stitch marker to mark the end of the round.

Join in the round, being careful not to twist stitches. Work in a K1P1 ribbing for 4” (approx. 19 rows).

Switch to 5mm 16” circular needles.

Step 2: Begin Decrease

Rnd 1: (K1, P1) 10 times, SSK, p2tog, place marker. Repeat three times.

You will now have 72 (80, 88) sts total and four stitch markers spread evenly across the needles.

Rnds 2-7: *K1, P1*; rep from * to * to end of rnd Rnd 8: *K1, P1*; rep from * to * until 4 sts before the stitch marker, SSK, p2tog, slip marker. Repeat 3 times. 64 (72, 80) sts

Rnds 9-14: *K1, P1*; rep from * to * to end of rnd Rnd 15: *K1, P1*; rep from * to * until 4 sts before the stitch marker, SSK, p2tog, slip marker. Repeat 3 times. 56 (64, 72) sts

Rnds 16-21: *K1, P1*; rep from * to * to end of rnd Rnd 22: *K1, P1*; rep from * to * until 4 sts before the stitch marker, SSK, p2tog, slip marker. Repeat 3 times. 48 (56, 64) sts

Rnds 23-28: *K1, P1*; rep from * to * to end of and rnd.

For size large, proceed to assembling.

Step 3: For Size S/M Continue the Pattern

Size S/M only

Rnd 29: *K1, P1*; rep from * to * until 4 sts before the stitch marker, SSK, p2tog, slip marker. Repeat 3 times. 40 (48) sts.

At this point, you may choose to use double pointed needles.

Rnds 30-33: *K1, P1*; rep from * to * to end of rnd Rnd 36: *K1, P1*; rep from * to * until 4 sts before the stitch marker, SSK, p2tog, slip marker. Repeat 3 times. 32 (40) sts

Rnds 37-40: *K1, P1*; rep from * to * to end of rnd

Step 4: Assembling

Using a tapestry needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and tie off. Weave in all loose ends.

You can wear the hat two ways: Fold up the brim of the hat once or fold it twice for an extra snug fit.
