How to Know If Your Computer Is Being Monitored

At school or work? Think your teacher or boss is watching your computer? This is how to stop them!

Step 1: Go to a Good Website

If you are at school, go to your school's website or Google. Any safe and unassuming website is okay.

Step 2: Open Task Manager

Open Task Manager (if you have Windows) and look at your CPU usage.

Step 3: Look for Something Out of the Ordinary

Look again at the picture in the last step. All of the features are there: using 30% of my CPU, weird name, everything. There is definitely someone watching me... >.>

Step 4: Click "End Task"

Click the task so that it is highlighted and then click "End Task". That should stop them.

Step 5: Congrats!

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete and there will be a list of options click task manager.

Uh....look for something out of the ordinary ???? How would you know what that is ?You could be shutting down a windows program that isn't spying on you...you could be shutting down a virus (good only until reboot). Instructions are so vague that only makes this 'ible worthless. I am sorry for your paranoia....maybe you wouldn't be worried about being spied on if you didn't have something to hide...jes' sayin....

Though I am assuming from your inference that only people with potentially illegal, and or embarrassing, things have a need to stop spyware and that asking for help to stop spyware would have to mean they don't want anyone to find out about their child and tranny dog porn habit that they pay for with a slew of stolen credit card numbers.

Not everyone who enjoys their right to privacy "has something to hide" simply because they don't want their activity monitored. You may not care if you are being monitored or that your rights (depending on origin) may be violated but there are a great deal of people that do mind and have every right. Its not as simple as "if you don't have anything to hide you shouldn't care if you are being spied on".

Ummm, To the laymen, they don't know exactly what these "weird name" programs are for. And people might be end up causing problems for their computer if they just simply "End" the "weird name" program.

It is more wise to type in the "weird name" into Google to see what that program really does. It will say what computer programs it works for. Often times, these "weird name" programs are actually integral parts of the Windows program, or your Internet Security virus protector program, or any of your favorite programs that you want to use daily.

When you Google the "weird name" program, and if the "weird name" program is a spyware, it will be identified as such and therefore you can pretty much feel safe to "End" the program.

Anything running within windows will show in the task manager but when it comes to keyloggers you wont see them there. They are designed so that the general PC user wouldn't have the ability to locate or disable them.

Hardware keylogger, apps with generic names that use little CPU, apps made to appear as tasks or services... There are so many things you haven't covered... Besides if you shut down monitoring software you only alert admin that something fishy might be going on...

Except the embedded software that IT departments use won't show up in your Task Manager because they're not installed on the local machine that you're using.
