Bobby Flays Barbecue Baby Back Ribs with a Root Beer BBQ Sauce as seen on Chef Flays show “Barbecue Addiction,” is a mouthwatering twist on Southern Style Barbecue. This recipe originally is meant for the advanced cook but the steps provided will allow anyone to cook this incredible recipe.

Step 1: Materials Required
Materials Required:
Measuring Cup set.
Large Sauce Pan.
Medium Sauce Pan
Ladle
Stirring Spoon
Tongs
Charcoal BBQ
Charcoal
Lighter fluid
Step 2: Ingredients Required
Ingredients:
• ½ cup------------------------- Molasses
• 10 ------------------------------Whole Cloves
• 4--------------------------------Cinnamon Sticks
• 3--------------------------------Star Anise
• 2 racks----------------------- Pork Ribs Trimmed
• 2 table spoons ------------Canola Oil
• 1 whole finely chopped------------ Sweet Onion
• 2 tablespoons finely grated------ fresh ginger
• 2 finely chopped--------------------- Garlic Cloves
• 2 teaspoons------------------------- Spanish paprika
• 2 cups--------------------------------- Root Beer
• 2 cups--------------------------------- Ketchup
• ¼ cup---------------------------------- Light Brown Sugar
• 2 tables spoon---------------------- Molasses
• Juice & finely grated zest of 1 Lemon
• Kosher Salt & black pepper
• Canola Oil for Brushing
Step 3: The Brine: ( Tenderizing and Marinating )
First we need to make the Brine. Brine is the sauce that the ribs are marinated in to both tenderize and add flavor to the meat.
Step 1: Combine into a Large Saucepan,
• 12 cups of water
• ½ cup of Kosher salt
• 10 whole Cloves
• 4 cinnamon sticks
• 3 star Anise
• ¼ cup molasses
Step 4: Heat Sauce Pan
Now place sauce pan on the stove and bring to a light boil until salt is dissolved.
Step 5: Cool Brine and Marinate
Once brought to a boil, remove sauce pan from heat to cool.
Step 6: Soak Ribs
When cooled, pour brine into 18w" X 24L" X 4"D Plastic or metal container and refrigerate for 8 hours turning the ribs at least twice.
Step 7: Root Beer BBQ Sauce
While the Ribs are soaking in the Brine marinade, now it is time to make the BBQ Sauce.
-Heat 2 table spoons of Canola oil in medium saucepan over medium heat, then add your finely chopped sweet onion and stir until golden brown.
Step 8: The BBQ Sauce
When the chopped onion in golden brown,
Add your finely gratedGinger and Garlic to saucepan and cook for 1 minute.
Step 9: The BBQ Sauce
Now Add 2 table spoons of Spanish Paprika to the saucepan and let cook for 1 minute.
Step 10: BBQ Sauce
Stir in your 2 cups of high quality Root Beer and reduce by half. ( meaning the level of sauce should lower by half)
Now add:
• 2 cups of Ketchup
• ¼ cup of Brown sugar
• ¼ cup of Molasses
Allow flavors to meld together for 10 minutes at a low heat.
Step 11: Finishing the BBQ Sauce
Finally, Add Salt and Pepper, and the Juice and grated zest of 1 Lemon. Now the Sauce is complete, the medium sauce pan can be removed from the Heat.
Step 12: Lets Get Grilling!
Set up your Charcoal Grill with Both Direct and indirect heat. (Meaning all the coals are on one half of the grill.)
Step 13: Grilling Ribs
First, bush your ribs with Canola oil before place on the Indirect heat side of the Grill for (15 minutes), flipping only once.
Second, move the ribs to the Direct Heat for (15 minutes) and bush with your Root Beer BBQ Sauce, flipping every five minutes.
