Intro: How to Make a NOT Philly Steak NOT Hot Roastbeef Sandwich

I was in the mood for something different , warm , filling and inexpensive, At first I was thinking about a faux philly cheese steak but I wanted to ramp up the taste so I added a packaged brown gravy.. Here's how I did it.......

STEP 1: The Ingredient List

Here's the stuff I used
 Minute steaks
 Green pepper
 jalapeno pepper
 white onion
 packaged gravy mix
 american cheese
torpedo roll (or any hard roll, pita, burritto wrap etc)

STEP 2: Slice and Chop

slice up the green pepper, jalapeno and onion

STEP 3: Fire Up the Pan

Did I mention bacon drippings? no? Oh well, melt a tablespoon or so of bacon drippings in a frying pan.

STEP 4: Peppers and Onions

drop the sliced peppers and onions in the hot pan, salt and pepper to taste

STEP 5: Prepare the Meat

Usually I just break up the minutes steaks but this time I sliced a stack of 7 into slices and added some steak sauce

STEP 6: The Meat

Once the peppers and onions are softened a bit move them to the side of the pan and add the steak, put on a lid to promote faster cooking. Lift the lid a couple times and stir the meat

STEP 7: Combine

Once the meat has lost most of its pinkness mix the meat and veggies together. Push the mass off to the side of the pan and add the packaged gravy mix and either water or white wine per package directions. Stir it all together and let cook over low heat for 10 minutes

STEP 8: Time for Cheese

Put a couple or 5 slices of cheese over the meat and veg mix, cover with a lid to help the cheese melt and then stir it all together

STEP 9: The Roll

slice open the torpedo roll leaving a thin bottom and thicker top, open the roll and tack out some of the stuffing (gives more room for the filling) You can either save the innards for bread crumbs or do like I do and give the dog a treat

STEP 10: Its DINNER

Load the roll with the meat mixture, put some french fries on the side ( I like my fries with ketchup and steak sauce) Serve with cold beverage of choice

Ooft, looks freakin tasty! I'll be attempting this at the weekend, thank you for the upload

Man, that looked like you cooked up half a box of those steaks and with the veggies all cooked down, only yielded one sandwich.  Epic shrinkage in that stuff.  I  would rather use real steak instead of that processed junk.  Yummy though.
I prefer using thinly sliced ribeye or even deli roast beef  also but the minute steaks where on sale. I do like keeping them in the freezer though because they do cook up quick (not really in a minute though)

I guess pics can be misleading, I did cook up half the box but it made 4 good sized sandwichs with enough left over for another meal, maybe over rice.....
Wow.
You have to be single to be making something like that.  That almost gave me a heart attack just reading it.
lol... at no point did I say it was healthy !  But it sure TASTES good ! I eat plenty of good for you food like poultry, fish, fresh vegs and salad but occasionally you just have to splurge... thanks for commenting
