Introduction: How to Make a Strawberry Shortcake
Step 1: Gather All Ingredients
You will need:
2 cups of flour
1/4 cup of sugar
4 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
few grains of nutmeg
1 egg, well beaten
6 tablespoons of cold butter
1/3 cup of milk
sliced strawberries
whipped cream

Step 2:
Mix solids together and liquids separate. Mix the solids and liquids together until dough is moist. Work in the butter with pastry blender.
Step 3:
Pour dough into a buttered and floured 8 to 9 inch round cake pan.
Step 4:
Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes in a temperature of 400 degrees,or until golden brown. Afterwards, test with toothpick; if dough comes out, lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees and let it bake for about 5 minutes.
Step 5:
After removed from pan, split into half (horizontally). Butter the cut side of both layers.
Step 6:
Place layers together with sliced strawberry's and whipped cream. Top the cake the same way.
