How to Make a Cheap and Easy Nail Sweeper

I was looking at a nail sweeper and thought that it would be great to have one when I am breaking down pallets for wood.  In the corner of my eye I saw magnets.  This sparked an Idea.  

What I used:
7/16 wood dowel
scrap piece of pine wood
glue gun
drill with appropriate size drill bit
magnets
