STEP 2: Making the Tail
start by cutting two identical pieces similar to the picture from the cardboard(piece1 and piece2). Cut a slot in the pointy edge of piece1. Cut a slot in the opposite side of the pointy edge in piece2. Slide the two pieces into each other to complete the tail.
STEP 3: Making the Body
Join the four matches together with cotton string starting at the centre. (You must start at the centre).
STEP 4: The Tail and Tip
Insert the pin or needle at the end of the four matches tied together. Insert the tail in the opposite end of the needle.(The matches must "hold" the tail there should be a match at every side of the tail).
STEP 5: Completing the Body
Wind up the rest of the cotton string to the matches to complete the dart. Wind the end of the string between the four matches at the tip. It should hold the string in place. Cut off the rest of the string.
STEP 6: The Completed Dart
Congratulations on completing the dart. This dart has quite a long range (about 20 metres or more) and is quite accurate.
Hints and tips:
You can add a layer of glue around the finished dart body to reduce drag and stop the string to unravel it gives a more proffessional look too.
You can build it from heavier materials to improve range.
You can add spin to the dart by just folding the end of the tail flaps all in one direction(Clockwise or Anticlockwise).
