Introduction: How to Make a Metal Pen

In this Instructable we're going to be building a metal pen.

The pen encloses a standard BiC pen cartridge.

Step 1: Materials

  • 6 inches of 3/8 aluminium stock
  • 3 inches of 3/8 brass stock
  • 1/4 -20 Tap and Die
  • 5/16-18 Tap and Die
  • Cutting Oil
  • Access to Lathe
  • Polishing Paper
  • BiC Pen Cartridge

Step 2: Machine the Pieces

Step 3: Polish the Pieces

Spin your pieces in a lathe or drill press.

Polish them using some fine polishing paper.

Step 4: Assemble Your Pen and Test It Out!

Congratulations! You have successfully made a metal pen.
