Introduction: How to Make a Super Easy Paper and Straw Kite
This is my first instructable. It will probably work best if you tie it onto a fan WHILE IT'S OFF!!!!!! I got this idea from a kite book I had. Hope you like it.
This is the stuff you'll need.
- Hot glue gun and some hot glue sticks.
- A straw.
- A pair of scissors.
- A pice of paper.
- And some string.
Step 1: Cutting Out the Paper Part 1
Now cut half of a diamond in the paper.
Step 2: Cutting Out the Paper Part 2.
Now fold that paper in half.
Step 3: Cutting Out the Paper Part 3.
Now cut out the the other half of the mini kite by cutting over the outline of the folded half.
Step 4: Cutting the Straw Part 1.
Now cut the bendy part of the straw off.
Step 5: Cutting the Straw Part 2.
Now cut the straw down the middle to make 2 pieces.
Step 6: Cutting the Straw Part 3.
Now cut the part of half the straw to the long end of paper. Then cut two pieces of straw like the picture below.
Step 7: Gluing the Straw.
Now glue the straw pieces ont the paper.
Step 8: Attaching the String.
this is the final step.

i think, it´s better to use small pieces of sticky tape insteadof hot glue
and you can thread the string for the briddle through the spine straw and fix it with paillettes against sliding up and down

With the amount of glue that is on it, does this make it too heavy to fly?

When I was in college the mechanical engineering department sponsored a kite contest. All the mechanical engineers designed these elaborate kites that took lots of trials and errors to get tuned up just right. Nobody noticed the Chinese students in the cafeteria right before the kite contest. They walked into the cafeteria and walked out with napkins and straws. I'm not sure they even used tape or staples or any fasteners. Anyway they won the contest in just about every category including fighting kites. Clearly the Chinese have a few secret kite recipes. Oh the reason they won the fighting kite contest was that nobody could maneuver in close enough to them. The Chinese kites were much more maneuverable and would just run away with no damage. Winning kite was the one with least damage.
