Intro: How to Make a Tv Remote Sensor Module

Hi everyone i am going to show u how to make a IR module which senses and tells wether the tv remote is working or not. The TSOP 1738 works as a LDR ( light dependent resistant) which senses IR(Infra red). When u press the buttons on the remote the sensor senses it and gives power to the LED and the buzzer. The circuit is very simple and easy to do. I will show u a step-by-step way to do it. I used a TSOP 1738 because it easily available in india and it costs about 30rs and u can get it any old tv shop.

STEP 1: Step 1

These are the items u need.

1) 9v battery
2) TSOP 1738- Important
3) 12v buzzer
4) LED
5) A couple of red and black wires.

U can solder the wires or make it on a breadboard or do it as i did.

STEP 2: Step 2

Take three red wires and connect the red wire form the battery and the buzzer to the LED wire as shown in the picture bellow.

STEP 3: Step 3

Now attach the three red wires to the middle terminal of the sensor which is VCC pin of the sensor.

STEP 4: Step 4

Now bind the black wires from the LED and the buzzer together. And connect to the left pin (flat side of the sensor facing u) this pin is the Vout pin.

STEP 5: Step 5

Connect the black wire from the battery to the right pin (flat side of the sensor facing u) which is the ground pin. Now u have ur module redy for a test.

STEP 6: Finish

K we have the module ready and to test it take a tv remote or any other remote which produces IR waves and press it near the sensor, and according to the frequency u will hear and see the buzzer sound and the LED flash. to watch the video follow the links http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBlyyq_VWew   and  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPgY6RdwjEA . The datasheet for TSOP1738 states absolute max 6 volts, and this is using a 9volt battery - will burn out TSOP. there is no indication of polarity of LED. LED and buzzer are directly across TSOP VCC and OUT pins, meaning TSOP output transistor when on will carry full current of both LED (with NO Current limiting resistor) and buzzer - but data sheet states maximum of 5mA !!

Question - which will burn out first LED or TSOP or both ???

hey, i tried this circuit, but its not working. Is it because I am using 1838 LDR?

i want to use this to recive signal from remote but the TSOP is connect to microcontroller atmega16 and i unable to use it so will help me in giving any knowledge how to use our coding of it
