Introduction: How to Make an Emergency Crisco Candle

Collect your supplies

- 1 Can of Crisco (16oz.)

- 2 large, pre-waxed candle wicks (9in.)

- 1 knife or scissors

- 1 lighter or match

Step 1:

Cut both wicks in half.
This will give you four wicks to use in your candle.

Step 2:

Insert the wicks into the shortening.
They will slide in easily.
Make sure they are evenly spaced.

Step 3:

Make sure you are in a well ventilated area, away from anything flammable.
Make sure the candle is on a level surface.  As the candle burns, the shortening will liquify.

Finally, light your candle.

It will burn for over 100 hours.
The shortening creates a bit of black smoke.  Try not to breath it in.

Step 4:

When you no longer need the light or heat, you can snuff the candle.
Replace the Crisco lid.  Store in a cool, dry place and it just relight it whenever you need.
