Introduction: How to Make Delicious Horns!

About: I'm a student at Østfold University College, currently in my first semester studying Information Systems. Living in student housing prohibits me from a lot of making, but I try to do whatever I have roo…
I've always loved baking, and this is one of my favorites to make. Horns! The reason that I love to make these is that they are really easy to make, the recipe list is short, the horns are also suitable for people that are allergic to eggs, milk, and people that don't want to eat to much sugar.

Step 1: What You Need...

Ingredients for eight horns:

300gr Flour
6gr Dry yeast/25gr of fresh yeast.
1tbs Butter/margarine/vegetable oil
6dl Milk OR water
1/2tsp Salt

Tools:
Large bowl
Stirring utensil
A knife to cut dough
Pot to melt butter, heat milk/water
Scale
Oven
Spatula
Rolling pin

I am making a triple dough so I will triple all of my ingredients.

Step 2: Measure

Measure up your flour, add your salt and yeast, when using dry yeast you need 6 grams, but when you use fresh yeast you need 25 grams.

Step 3: Melt and Heat

Melt 1 tbs of butter in a pot, and add your milk when it is melted. Heat the milk to finger-temp. (37C) If you are using Fresh yeast, You should add it at this step AFTER you have heated your milk. Don't, add the yeast if the milk is warmer then 37C. Instead of using only milk or water, I used 4 dl milk, and 2 dl water.

Step 4: Add and Mix!

Mix the yeast and salt into the flour you measured before. Add your warm milk and butter to the dry ingredients, and mix well. Knead the dough until it is smooth, and doesn't stick to your hands or the bowl.

Step 5: Rise Up From the Ground!!!

Set your dough to raise. I usually put it on my bathroom floor where it is underfloor heating. The dough should raise to twice its size, which usually takes about 35-45 minutes.

Step 6: Roll and Cut...

When the dough has raised to double its size, put some flour on your workspace and roll it into a ball. (Remember to divide your dough into the several balls if you make the dough a double, triple or quadruple.) Roll the dough into a 35-40 centimeter large round pizza looking thing. Then cut your dough into eight equal size triangles.

Step 7: And Roll Again!!!

Roll your triangles up and give them a bend. Transfer the horns onto a cookie-sheet, and let them raise for about 20 more minutes. Set your oven to 240C after ten minutes to let it preheat.

Step 8: Brush, Coat or Spray...

When your horns are finished raising, and your oven preheated to 240C. Using a brush or spray-bottle, lightly coat the horns with water.

Step 9: Into the Oven It Goes...

Put your cookie-sheet with the horns into the middle of your oven, and let them bake for about 8-10 minutes, They should get a slight golden brown color.

When the horns are done, take them out of the oven, and let them cool on a rack.

Step 10: Enjoy...

Enjoy the fruits of your labor!!!
