Introduction: How to Make a Whole Speaker Set

Now that you have voted this instructable let's get started and make a whole speaker set wih mic that operates on 9 to 12v battery.
The amplifier that you see in the photo is made by me but I have enclosed it in an empty box of an old amplifier wich was fried years ago but you can make your own box of wood.

Step 1: Amplifier

First of all you should make the amplifier but I want to tell you that this circuit of the amplifier is made by someone else and is also available as another instructable on this site. I can assure you that this circuit works coz I have built it myself. It is a mono amplifier but you can make two of them one for left and one for right speaker. The things that you will need are

LM386 ic
Ceramic capacitor 0.01 uf (number 103)
Ceramic capacitor 0.47 uf (number 473)
10 ohm 1/4 watt resistor
5 k ohms potentiometer (for gain control)
100 ohms potentiometer  (for volume control)
100 uf electrolyte capacitor
220 uf electrolyte capacitor (for bass)
3.5mm pin
3.5mm jack

The 3.5mm pin has three pins in it the longest one is the negative for both left and right speaker and one of the small pins is positive for  left speaker and the other is the positive for the right speaker. It is very loud if powered by 12v dc. The circuit is given in this step and a photo of the amplifier made is also given in this step

Step 2: Speaker-1

Now that you have made the amp you should start working on your speakers. First you will need to break your old and waste headphones and get the speaker out of them. You can use earplugs also but headphones will be louder. Actually you can derive your speakers from anywhere like if you have an old waste tv or something like that.

Step 3: Speaker-2

Now you need the body of the speaker which is a thermocole cup. You can also use plastic cups but thermocole cups work better.

Step 4: Speaker-3

Now make a cut at the base of the cup and place your speaker there with two wires coming out of it from the bottom of the cup. Make two of them and join them together. Then attach a 3.5mm pin to their wires.

Step 5: Stand

For the stand you will need another cup. Place the other cup upside down and use a toothpick to connect the speaker to the stand. The toothpick will not be able to hold them together. You will need to use some tape. Then you can decorate it as you like.

Step 6: Preamp for Mic

Now its time to work on the microphone. You can't join a microphone just like that. You will need to build a preamplifier first. The items that you will need to make a preamp are

4-4148 diodes
1 LED of any color
120 ohms resistor
2k2 resistor (2.2 k)
220 k resistor
4k7 resistor (4.7 k)
4- 10 uf electrolyte capacitor
100 uf electrolyte capacitor
Bc 547 transistor or you can use 2n3904 or 2n2222

The schematic for the preamp is given in this step. After you've made it connect its output points on the input points of the amplifier. Use diodes so that the signal of the mic and your mp3 source don't go into each other. You dont need to add another battery for it you can connect it to the battery of the amplifier. Be sure of the polarity and that you have connected it parralel. The curved lines of the capacitors in the schematic means the negative point of the capacitor and the flat line means the positive point of the capacitor. Out of the schematic, in the real world the small wire is the negative point.

Step 7: Subwoofer

Well the speaker set is not complete yet there are some things that are still left to do. First you should add a subwoofer to it that is permanently connected to it. It will add bass to your audio because most small speakers cannot operate on low frequencies. It will also remove distortion from your speakers.

Step 8: LEDs Blinking to Music

The last thing to do is to add some lights to it. You can add LEDs that blink to music. You should attach them with the speakers with their pins inside the speaker and the diodes on top. The things that you will need are

1 tip 31 transistor(most of the npn transistor work)
Some LEDs of any color
12v battery

If you don't want to use a 12v power source you can also use a 9v power source but then you can use only three LEDs. Remember 1 LED takes 3v so according to the power source you should add the LEDs. At the point where the signal comes in you don't need to attach a 3.5mm pin. Attach the wires of the transistor to the wires of the speaker. You should hide the power source inside the cup that is working as the stand. The schematic is given below.
