Introduction: How to Make the Magic Refilling Gum Pack From Jeff Prace's "Gum";
Hey guys!
First off, sorry if this isn't the best Instructable out there. This is my first one, so feel free to tell me how I did in the comments!
The effect of this trick is in the video.
after the trick, you can even offer them a piece of the gum, adding to the realistic effect.
How it Works
The concept is simple. One piece is kept the same length, while the other 13 are cut shorter. when you show your spectator that there is only one piece, you must make sure that they can't see the other pieces. When you tell them "It's alright, though," turn the pack of gum upside down and give it a good flick. add emphasis to mask the sound of the packs of gum sliding inside it. Then, move your hands around, turn it around so the flap is facing up, snap your fingers, and open the pack, watching the spectator's surprise. then, you give them the middle piece (or rather, the only real piece) as a souvenir and put the packet in your pocket.
Materials needed
A 14 piece pack of gum (make sure that is is set up so that there are 7 pieces is two rows and they are put so the back isn't higher than the front.
Scissors
Clear Tape
Optional
Pizza roller (More on that later)

Step 1: Preparing the Gum Box
This is a rather simple step. All you do is take out all of the sticks of gum, then use the scissors to slice out the two silvery layers inside the box that separates the layers of gum. HOWEVER, leave the piece that is closest to the open side, because it blocks the view of the inside when you take out the piece of gum you give to your spectator. When you
Step 2: Prepping the Gum
What you are going to do now is a bit more tricky. First, take a strip of the tape long enough so that you can fit 7 pieces of gum on it. then, place 7 pieces of gum on it. make it so that the tape is ON THE TOP of the pieces of gum, or it will get sliced off when you cut. do the same thing two more times but using only three pieces of gum for them. Then, you are going to take two pieces of tape and put them so that both of their sticky sides touch. then, place one of the sticky sides on the back of the strip of seven, then do the same to one of the pieces of three (see the pic). Do it again for the other side. Then, take a piece of the gum and line it up on a piece of ruled paper, so that the top of it is under the first line. Make a pencil mark on the paper that marks where the middle of the stick of gum is. Then, take the strip of 13 and put it all flat in a line. The pizza cutter is handy here, as you can just roll it from one side to the other, but if you don't have one, you can make a mark on the gum and use the scissors to cut it.
Any way, place the gum inside the pack so that the gap is in the middle of the front. Finally, put the main strip there.

Step 3: DONE!!
Now go and astound your friends. It may be a good idea to keep a "reloading" pack on you of the same flavors, so you can easily reset the trick for some other spectators!
Thank you all for reading my instructable! If you have any ideas that you think can make it easier or questions of things you want me to clarify on, write it in the comments, and I will try to get to it as soon as possible. Thanks again for reading!
