About: "CAN'T can't do anything until TRY comes along and does it" -Grandpa

5 gallon buckets are great to reuse, but many are made with lids not intended to be removed. This instructable will show you the way to easily remove them without damaging the bucket itself.

Step 1: Tools

Tools needed
Safety glasses
Kevlar gloves (to avoid cuts)
Utility knife with sharp blade

Step 2: First Cut

To start, make a small cross shaped hole in the lid as shown. This will allow you to fit your jigsaw blade in.

Step 3: Cut Around the Brim

Next, take your jigsaw and cut the whole center out of the lid

Step 4: Final Cuts

Cut the outside, top, and inside of the lid so that it is completely split.

Step 5: Peel It Apart

Use a flat head screwdriver to begin removal. Once it's started, it will easy to pull apart.

That's all there is to it. The process is simple and can be completed in a matter of minutes. Be sure to wash them out before use if they've contained chemicals.
