Introduction: How to Revive Any Laptop by Making a TInkerbook

I want to adress something the concernes me since the dawn of my Computer-using carreer:
In nearly every home there is at least one old PC/ Laptop ,whatever device that nobody uses beacause its old, outdated, or broken.
Peoples basic(computational) needs haven´t changed in the last decade
but the computational power of the machines they buy have more than doubeld every year. There is no need for more power to fullfill the same tasks computers did ten years ago.
We don´t talk about gaming here, but honestly most consumers bought a 2000$ Facebook-Machine.
And that is just economic nonsense.
Instead of tossing it into the garbage you can revive it and improve its functionality with some easy to do techniques.

Step 1: Introducing the Tinkerbook
This Video shows , what I did to a Fujitsu Siemens laptop that had a broken HDD and a defektive Keyboard
also the screen flickered madly.
And now it works with Linux (boots via USB instead of HDD), I repaired the flickering by securing the connectors inside. Built a touchpen-like device for graphical aplications, added a wireless keyboard and it now has a built in coffee warmer.

Step 2: The Build Itself

Every Pc is built a bit differently so I tried to keep the tutorial as basic as possible.
I haven´t found a pc yet that wasn´t repurposeable, if not as desktop/laptop then as media server or retro game machine or dedicated device (like a FreeNAS) or whatever. there is always a use for hardware.
The particular Laptop shown in the Video was soaked in hot choclate milk and was ready to bite the dust, but after the owner saw the first video and what I did to it he instantly wanted it back and uses it happily since.
I made another one for me personaly that features a 1,7GHZ Pentium M and it works better than my cluttered desktop, which is ten years younger, the key to performance is a lightweight OS and maintanance.
Step 3: More Tinkerbooks and Makerbooks
Tinkerbooks are dedicated to Consumers that just want a working computer for Home/office Media and Internet
nearly every system of the last decade fits those need if its propper set up and maintained.

I´m Currently working on two dedicated Computers, THE MAKERBOOK and THE MAKERSTATION
Dedicated devices to fit the needs of Makers like me and you (dear reader) with built in support and devices like a bench Power supply, MCU programmers built in and much much more
and a Operating system that supports a lot of programs Makers need for example CNC ,Cad,3d printing, graphical Design, Testing, software Oscilloskope, etc. etc.
I give some restrictions to my project myself:
OPEN SOURCE ONLY (no costs for additional software allowed)
mostly Used Parts, or repurposed hardware-->Hacking spirit and low Cost
Concentrate on older common Hardware (prototypes have specs from Mid class around 2003-04) ->>everyone can do it without top notch hardware (and older hardware tends to be more reliable to)
Make those Devices ROCK SOLID, Physically and OS-wise.
