Intro: How to Run Day of the Tentacle on DS Using SCUMMVM

Okay. This is a tutorial on how to get your old favourite Lucasarts games running on a nintendo DS and nintendo DS lite.


I managed to do this at 11 years old. I'm 15 now, and adding games like crazy!

I guarantee you this is an easy guide :-D

STEP 1: Make Sure You Have a Nintendo DS

Make sure you have a nintendo DS. i know it's crazy, but it's a key element :-D
Mine has a Disney Gamer sticker on it from one of my sister's games lol.

STEP 2: Make Sure You Have the Day of the Tentacle Disk

It's obvious, but it's true. You can pick one up at eBay, for something like £20.

STEP 3: Buy an R4DS Cartridge.

This cartridge is specifically designed for the nintendo DS. It has a small slot for inserting a MicroSD chip, but we'll get to that in a minute.

When you buy it, you will now have the Cartridge, a blue case for it, and a USB drive with a MicroSD slot.
 Correct? Let's move on then.

STEP 4: Buy a MicroSD Chip.

Now you need to buy a MicroSD chip. They're tiny, so don't lose it when you recieve it! You can buy them from eBay for a cheap price.


SLOT IT IN THE USB DRIVE BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH NEXT STEP.

done that? Okay, let's go...

STEP 5: Donwload the Kernal and Scummvm on to the Flash Drive (with Microsd Chip Inside It)

your flash drive should be in the computer.

STEP 6: Extracting the Kernal

First, make a  new folder on your desktop called 'ds Kernal'
(It's just to make everything neater when extracting)

download the flash drive kernal on to your desktop: http://download.r4ds.me/v1.18/R4_v1.18_English.zip
(This enables the flash drive to work properly.)

Place the kernal you have just downloaded into the 'ds kernal' folder you have just created.

Right click the Kernal 1.18 and select 'extract here'.

STEP 7: Installing SCUMMVM

Next, create another new folder on your desktop called 'SCUMMVM'. There are a lot of files when downloadin SCUMMVM, so this folder will just keep it neat.
Download SCUMMVM into the 'SCUMMVM' folder you have just created. Extract again.

STEP 8: Copy the SCUMMVM Folder and KERNAL Folder Onto the USB

Hilight both folders, then right click to copy.
Once copied, open up My Computer, and Paste them into the Removable Disk.

STEP 9: Copying the DOTT Files on to the USB

ON THE USB 'removable disk' MAKE A FOLDER CALLED 'DOTT' of something like that.

Next, from the CD, right click and press 'OPEN'.
Find these files:
MONSTER.SOU
TENTACLE.000
TENTACLE.001
then copy into the 'DOTT' file on the USB.

STEP 10: The Chip, the Cartridge, the R4DS in Action.

Sooooo could I play LEGO Starwars on it? Sorry to ask this I'm not so advanced in this kind of stuff as you are.

Unfortunately, not the NEWER lucasarts games; only the old ones, which are pixley haha! Like "Sam & Max Hit the Road" "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusdae" "Day of the Tentacle" "Monkey Island 1 and 2" "Loom".
And i know lego starwars is lucasarts haha! I have it on PS2 :) XX
