Introduction: How to Secure Your Home From Thieves.

The following is a PSYWAR (psychological warfare) against the dirt bag pieces of garbage that like to prey on the weak (by making the thieves ASSUME they'd have less troubles, less risk of going to jail again or getting hurt) and in doing so turn their FEAR against them and make them your plaything so they'll go elsewhere. Sorry for the long read but it's worth it.

If the doors on your house has 6 screw hole hinge plates: [See Picture (2A)]

Remove 2 screws 1 from the door frame (doorjamb) side of the door and 1 from the door itself [Do only one hinge plate at a time], the ones that are directly across from each other on 6 hole hinge plates. With the door wide open and looking at the hinge plate see picture (2A) the hinge pin on either side there will be 3 screws on one side and 3 on the other they're mirrors of each other if you were to connect the screw heads like connect the dots they would look like this < > the screws that makes the points on the hinge plate [this screw →< & >← this screw] are the ones you are to remove. The screw hole in the door frame (doorjamb) hinge plate is where you will drive the duplex nail [see picture (1A)] the nail needs to be driven in straight and level so the nail's secondary head that is partway down the nail shank sits flush within the hinge plates screw hole [see picture (2A)] then use a hacksaw to cut the main nail head off, this is the one you used the hammer on to drive the nail into the door frame (doorjamb) with. Once the nail head is cut off you will need to make sure that the remaining shank is straight I know this is the second time I've said this but it is important because the remaining shank of the nail is going to go into the open screw hole on the door if it is straight it will go in without any problems do this for each hinge plate on your door. Some doors only have 2 hinge plates, where as some have 3 for better strength & security.

If the doors on your house has 8 screw hole hinge plates: [See Picture (3A)]

Remove 4 screws 2 from the door frame (doorjamb) side of the door and 2 from the door itself [Do only one hinge plate at a time], the ones that are directly across from each other usually on 8 hole hinge plates. With the door wide open and looking at the hinge plate [see picture (3A)] the hinge pin on either side there will be 4 screws on one side and 4 on the other they're mirrors of each other remove 2 of the screws of your choice of the 4.* The screw holes in the door frame (doorjamb) hinge plate is where you will drive the duplex nail [see picture (1A) & (3A)] the nail needs to be driven in straight and level so the nail's secondary head that is partway down the nail shank must be flush with the hinge plate See Picture (2A) in the screw hole then use a hacksaw to cut the main nail head off, this is the one you used the hammer on to drive the nail into the door frame (doorjamb) with. Once the nail head is cut off you will need to make sure that the remaining shank is straight I know this is the second time I've said this but it is important because the remaining shank of the nail is going to go into the open screw hole on the door if it is straight it will go in without any problems do this for each hinge plate on your door. Some doors only have 2 hinge plates, where as some have 3 for better strength & security.

do this for ALL the outside doors. (4A) Replace ALL the outside lights on house and garage with these. (5A) Then put these in areas where lights should be but there is no power source for them so that if someone tried to walk around the house at night that there would be no way get near the house or garage without them getting lit up so ANYBODY and EVERYBODY can see them, crooks HATE drawing attention to themselves. (6A) Get a bunch of security window stickers and put one on EACH window if there are 2 parts make sure there are a sticker for each and then get 2 security signs one for the front yard and one for the back too. (7A) Then you can go one step farther if you want you can install phony CCTV cameras (they even have ones that has a blinking light and evens turns side to side in a sweeping motion). (8A) Then find the biggest pile of fake dog poop you can find (because big poop = BIG MEAN DOG).

*This is where you can be a little creative with where you put your duplex nails on the hinge plate, I personally would do the top and bottom hinge plates the same. If you do have a middle hinge plate then you can use the other 2 holes but DO NOT put the nails next next to each other skip to the next hole having the duplex nails side by side because this will reduce the effectiveness words in other words holes 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 BUT NOT 1 & 2 or 3 & 4.

This told to me by my friend AWESOME PAULA!
WHAT TO TAKE TO BED WITH YOU - NOT a joke Pretty neat idea. Never thought of it before. Put your car keys beside your bed at night. Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr's office, the check-out girl at the market, everyone you run across. Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, ...just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and r equires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around. After a few seconds, all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

**I learned the door hinge plate trick from a Detroit Police Officer many years ago.
