Intro: How to Solve a Rubik's 2 by 2 by 2 Cube

In this instructable you will learn how to solve a 2 by 2 by 2 Rubik’s cube.

Before I begin, please know that I am German, so if I have any spelling mistakes, please tell me. Also, please note that I developed these algorithms on my own.

STEP 1: Before Beginning

Before beginning you should know what these codes mean. If there are only the letters turn it clockwise, if there is the letter and ' turn counterclockwise.

For example, U would mean to turn the upper layer clockwise, so to the left, and U' would mean to turn it counterclockwise, so to your right.

You always have to be imagining that you are looking right at that layer to determine weather to turn it clockwise or counterclockwise. For example, B might seem to be counterclockwise looking from the front but when looking at the back layer B will be clockwise.

STEP 2: Scramble

STEP 3: 1st Layer

The first layer is so simple, that you should get it on your own. Be careful that the corners even match when you look from the side.

Or, well, just use this step on my instruction for the 3x3, it solves the same.

STEP 4: Swap Cornerpieces

In this Step you'll swap the corner pieces, so that they are in the correct position. You'll swap them as shown in the
picture.

The algorithm is:
B U B' U' B' R B R'

Now the corner pieces should have the right position.

.

STEP 5: Turn Cornerpieces

Now it's time to turn the corner pieces. You always turn the lower left and the lower right one. Turn the left one counterclockwise and the right one clockwise.

Here is the algorithm:

L U' L' U L U' L' D L U L' U' L U L' D'

Now you’ve done it! You solved the 2 by 2 by 2 Rubik’s cube!

in fact i will show u haw my 2by2 looks maybee u could help me

Thank u for making this is very helpful but since im only 10 its a little bit harder for me to understand

where can you get these?

Thank u for making this but im only 10 so its harder for me to understand

what? i think i did it wrong.:/

Thanks! I'm planning to buy a 2x2x2 cube and I'm sure this will help a lot! :D

"Step 3: The first layer is so simple, that you should get it on your own. Be careful that the corners even match when you look from the side." Not a helpful instruction. Abandoning your guide in favor of a guide that explains this step.

Feel free to do the corners according to this step in my 3x3 guide :)

Thank you so much for the instructions! I am a native English speaker and I love editing, so I took the liberty of editing your instructions. Please feel free to copy and paste edited text below:

Thank you, glad you liked this instruction and thanks for the better wordings! Haha, can't believe it's been already like four and a half year since I wrote this instruction, my english improved quite some since then :)

You're welcome. I did not realize that it had been so long. I did not read the time stamp. I am studying German, so I try to be helpful to those who are learning English. I feel like those who are learning English are leaps and bounds ahead of me in my own foreign language studies.

A friend of mine recently purchased a 2x2x2 Rubik's cube, but the instructions are in picture form with Mandarin and a smattering of incorrect English. I found your instructions to be very easy to follow. I will share them with my friend soon.

I will learn German (my mother's side is German); Mandarin scares me a little bit though.

Glad you found my instructions so helpful! Just let me know if you need any help :)

Danke! Diese ist sehr gut und wirklich interessant!
Danke gleichfals :)
