Introduction: How to Use Genome Code to Design

About: President of Toriningen Inc. in Tokyo

Specific sequences of A,T,G,C nucleotides define many viruses and all living organisms including you(Refer wikipedia about Gene,Genome and DNA).

Here's how to get them for your design. For example, this is an acrylic lasercut data for my Shoji of Methanothermus fervidus. My cat always punches all papers he can,so i'll replace them to DNA engraved acryl to end war.

FAQ:

1.Currently it takes money to know whole sequence of your own DNA.Hopefully may not in close future.

2.You can use already decoded Human genome sample with 33,543,332 digits.

3.Smallest RNA is Coconut cadang-cadang viroid (246bp).Here it is.

CUGGGGAAAU CUACAGGGCA CCCCAAAAAC UACUGCAGGA

GAGGCCGCUU GAGGGAUCCC CGGGGAAACC UCAAGCGAAU

4.Refer Smallest organisms and Gene to get list of typical length.

Porcine circovirus(smallest virus): 1,759bp

Human Mitochondria: 16,569bp(13 protein-coding genes)

Candidatus Carsonella ruddii(smallest non-viral): 159,662bp(182 protein genes)

Homo sapiens: 33,543,332bp(about 26,000 protein genes)

and so on.

Step 1: Check Binominal Name

First, visit wikipedia or somewhere to know "Binominal Name" of the spieces you're looking for.Note that not all spieces decoded yet.

Human=Homo sapiens

Human is too long to view.So let's use Corn,"Z. mays" as example.

It's surely decoded because of its importance in agricultural purpose.

Step 2: Visit NCBI

Visit nucleotide section of National Center for Biotechnology Information,US National Library of Medicine.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nuccore/

Step 3: Search With Query "(Binominal Name)" "complete Genome"

This case,"Z. mays" "complete genome" give you 2 results.2,132,688bp and 3,626,085bp because length of DNA is not unique in one species.

I prefer shorter.Click "FASTA".

Step 4: You Got Code!

You can copy&paste to any editor to make stencil or anything.

If you make something, please notice me by Facebook or "I made it!" above.

Thanks.
