Introduction: How to Write Kids Poems.

I think joy comes from listening, reading and seeing joy in others
and i very nice way to show this is poems.

Poems come in many different styles some not-so happy
and some over-happy and contrary to popular belief they don't have to rhyme.

poems are not just for adults and not just for kids but today we are learning kids
poems that are easy and fun to make.

Thanks to coseausername for giving me inspiration to write this!

Step 1: Basing Your Poem. (is That a Word?)

To start of your kids poem you will need an easily rhymed word
to find mine i just looked around the room i was in eg.

Ice cream

shirt

rock

bear

Step 2: Building Up

to make the poem successful you need rhymes early on.
This is why you choose simple words.

ice cream= team steel beam

shirt= flirtdirt

rock= sock

bear= hair

Step 3: "cheating"

and by cheating i mean repetition because repetition is a key thing for two reasons:

It makes it easier to read for kids and makes it easier to write.

ice cream team becomes. there once was a team who liked ice cream yes they were an ice cream team

shirt and flirt becomes: there once was a shirt who liked to flirt and the shirt went out with a shoe

rock and sock become: there once was a rock who lived in a sock yes the sock had a rock in it's belly

Bear and hair become: There once was a bear who had no hair, it turns out that he was bald

this can work in many ways.

Step 4: Adding Some "plot"

once you have a couple of rhyming words make them in to
a VERY short story:

1. There once was a team who liked ice cream
Yes they were an ice cream team.
Then the team who liked ice cream walked into a steel beam.

2 There once was a shirt who liked to flirt
and the shirt went out with the shoe
After the date with the shirt and the shoe the shirt was covered in goo!

3 There one was a rock who lived in a sock
the sock had a rock in it's belly
Not the rock or the sock found out how
But they ended up on telly!

4 there once was a bear who had no hair
it turns out that he was bald
Now if you would lend your ear you'll d hear
he wasn't a bear at all!

Now i hoped you liked my instructable and please
post any poems you come up with!
