Introduction: Hymnal Candles: Pottery Barn Knockoff

About: I enjoy scrapbooking and all types of crafting. To view more of my projects, visit my blog here: www.jeanscraftycorner.blogspot.com

If you have been to a Pottery Barn or seen their add, they have some beautiful candles that have sheet music on them, but they are very pricey.  So, I made 3 of my own and they were really quick and easy to make and also inexpensive.

Step 1: What You Will Need

Here is what you will need for this project:
-3 Flameless Candles  (These were purchased at the Dollar Tree and they take AAA Batteries which you may have on hand, or you can also pick up at the Dollar Tree as well)
-Mod Podge and a brush to apply it
-An old Hymnal for the pages.  (You could use any old book or sheet music for this, also patterned paper, etc)

Step 2: Preparing Your Hymnal Pages

Now, you will need to pull out the pages that you want to use.  I picked out songs that I knew, and pulled them out of the book.  They you will need to cut the edges off of your paper so it will have a straight edge and be ready to apply.

Step 3: Applying the Pages

Now, you need to take your brush and apply the mod podge directly to the flameless candle.  You will only do this to half of the candle at a time and then press the hymnal page down onto the mod podge.  Your page will be longer than you need, don't worry this will be trimmed later.  You will do this to both sides of the candle and line two hymnal pages up so the entire candle is covered.

Once they are attached and dryed (it only takes about a minute), you will then cut the excess of the hymnal pages off of the candle so that it is only covering the candle.

Finally, you will take the mod podge and coat the entire surface of the candle to seal in the pages and give it a sheen look.

Step 4: The Finished Product

Now, you can embellish the candle if you wish or leave them as is.  I wanted to add some ribbon around mine, so I took a tape runner and ran it over the ribbon and then simply attached it around all of the candles.

The Finished Project is pretty similar to the same candles you will find at the pottery barn and the total cost to make all 3 of these is less than $10.
